BACKGROUND
James started playing at 5 and gained an adult handicap by the age of 11. He competed for his school and won several adult tournaments growing up as well as his Junior National Championship 3 times. He played Division 1 College Golf as well as represented his State and National Team. He turned professional in 2001 and played professional events in Europe and Asia. Since moving to the US his playing time has consisted of the Local professional events including the Met Open, New York State Open and US Open qualifiers.
His teaching knowledge and expertise comes from some 10,000 hours of lessons over nearly 2 decades of teaching across 3 continents. Initial training came from working with a variety of European Tour Coaches based in Dubai during his youth, this continued with Peter Cowan Academy during College years and National Coaching Staff. He's teaching tenures include Elite Junior Summer Programs in Europe, Onboard Academy with Elite Golf Cruises, Peter Cowan Academy in Dubai, Chelsea Piers Golf Academy, Golf Channel Academy and currently at Five Iron Golf.
verbal, visual, and kinesthetic instruction. including initial worked in various aspects of the golf industry with a majority of the time spent expanding student’s knowledge about the game of golf.
His other expertise is in equipment starting with tenures as two years as Equipment Specialist for Direct Golf UK, two seasons as Technical Representative for Titleist and Ping in Dubai, UAE, three years establishing and operating building in-House Custom Fitting Program, two seasons as Technical and Sales Representative for Cleveland Golf/Srixon and four years operating his own independent golf store.
He has gained valuable experience from working with some of the world’s top golf instructors, engineers and guru’s. James has been a member of the European Golf Teachers Federation since 2002 and the PGA of America since 2008.
